Reminders for Next Week

Wanted to remind you of a couple of important meetings that are being held this next week. – Lil

On Monday the 12th, at 6:30 in the FMRHS library the School Board will hold its meeting where Lorraine Landry will be participating in her first meeting as the Interim Superintendent for our distrrict.

On Tuesday the 13th, the Planning Board is holding Public Hearings on:

1:  the proposed change to the building on Main Street where Fitz Vogt & Associates has been renting.  if you read The Clarion there was an explanation on the front page.  If you need a refresher on the issue, you will find it in The Planning Board Minutes from last month, right here in The Walpolean.

2:  the proposal for a new resort hotel on Rice Mountain.  Again, the issue was explained in The Clarion as well as the minutes from the Planning Board meeting.

On Saturday the 17th, at 1:00 in the Middle School Gymnasium, the Selectboard is holding a hearing regarding the report from the Hooper Study Committee.  Here in The Walpolean, you will find more information in the “Notice of Public Hearing” that I posted on 7/31/13 or the summary entitled “Save the Date” that I posted on 7/29/13.

You can search for any of these posts either by doing a search for the title.  If I forgot any reminders that should have been included, please leave a comment so others can hear of it. – Lil

Town Hall Closed

Janet Clough asked me to let everyone know that:

The floors are being sanded at the Town Hall.  They will be beautiful but, in the meantime the doors will be locked on Thursday, Friday and Monday.  The Selectboard meeting scheduled for Thursday at 6:00 will be held at the Hooper Mansion, NOT the Selectboard Office.  Offices will be closed all three days since the air quality will be less than pleasant.

The Real Twist Soft Serve Ice Cream stand in Walpole, NH will hold its next Classic Car Cruise Night, weather permitting, on Sunday, August 11th, from 5 till dark. Here’s a chance for the whole family to enjoy a Sunday evening looking at old and antique cars, while enjoying a soft serve ice cream or frozen yogurt. . Everyone visiting can get free jimmies, diptop or flavorburst with any cup or cone. Make sure to enter the drawing for gift certificates to the Real Twist or Real to Reel!

Extended Hours at Walpole Historical Society

extended hours

The Walpole Historical Society is having another free special event this Saturday evening, August 10, 2013.  We’d love to have families come for a visit.  There will be refreshments, and the children can “shop” from our toy peddler’s cart for some goodies to take home!  Everyone can enjoy visiting our current exhibit “Walpole Shops,” to discover the shopping experience during Walpole’s earlier years.  Our Gift Shop will also be open for…you guessed it…more shopping!

Book Sale Needs Books

Antonia Andreoli asked me to remind everyone of the Book Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  This is such an important event because it lends such incredible support to our wonderful libraary. This is a great chance to clean those book shelves and make room for more books. A table at the Tag Sale would provide the opportunity to clean a little more.  (If you are inclined to clean, that is!) – Lil

The sale will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 25, 26 & 27, 2013 in the Walpole Middle School Gymnasium.

The success of the book sale depends completely on donations of gently used paperbacks, hardcover books, CDs, DVDs, records and children’s books. (No encyclopedias, text books, VHS tapes or tape cassettes please.) Donations are now being accepted and we need your help. Please bring your book donations to the Walpole Town Library on Fridays, Saturdays, or Mondays. For information and questions on donating books call the library at 756-9806.

Tables for the tag sale are available for a fee of $25.00. For reserving a table for the tag sale, contact Pam Howard at 756-4224.
