Third Annual Vernal Pool Walk at Distant Hill Gardens

Compost Condo

Distant Hill Gardens will be hosting its third annual Vernal Pool Walk this coming Saturday, May 2nd, from 10 am to noon. It will be led by Jeff Littleton, owner of Moosewood Ecological, and an adjunct professor at Antioch New England.

On this easy walk, we will be exploring a number of these unique wetlands. You will get to examine the eggs of two species of Mole Salamander, (the Spotted Salamander and the Jefferson Salamander), eggs of the Wood Frog, and with any luck the hard to find Fairy Shrimp.

First Spotted Salamanders of 2015

NOTE: Please bring binoculars if you have them. It will make it much easier to see many of the items of interest in the pools.
