Opening Day at the Walpole Historical Society

Our season is about to begin and we hope you all will come to the Museum on Saturday, June 4th from 12 noon to 4 pm.  Our new exhibit this year is all about Louisa May Alcott and the time she spent here in the Walpole area many years ago.  You will see a petticoat actually belonging to Louisa as well as other items including a sampling of quotes, expressions, and pictures typical of Louisa.

Our gift shop is brimming with bright color – beautiful note cards, mugs, wine glasses and note pads designed by Andrea Goins.   We have new candles and summery napkins.  This year we have beautiful accessories from Country on the Common that are a must for every woman – perfect for adding that special touch to an outfit – or for gift giving.  We have books by Louisa May Alcott and also Ray Boas’ book on Walpole – As it Was.. and Still is…, maps of Walpole, and note cards by Betsy Congdon. Framed pictures of Walpole sites as well as hand painted door toppers of buildings in Walpole.  We have framed prints for decorating your home by Chris Burchstead, Hancock glass sun catchers and new fun origami eye catchers!!

Please visit our museum and gift shop often, where you will see your friends and neighbors – and meet new friends as well.  We always welcome new people to volunteer too.

We will be open every Saturday 12 noon to 4 pm until mid October.  If you have any questions or special needs from the gift shop just give Joan or Sally a call – and we will do our best to open the shop if you need something when the museum is closed.    See you soon!!

Help Wanted

Looking over the list of Followers for this blog, I don’t recognize names of those who might be seeking a part time summer job.  At the same time, I see parents and grandparents who may be trying their darndest to help offspring find employment, and I do remember those days, so here goes… – Lil

The Bellows Walpole Inn (Walpole, NH) is looking for one or two local high school students to help out in our housekeeping department. Recently reopened, the Inn needs assistance in the areas of general house cleaning and Inn upkeep. Tasks would largely include cleaning and turning over our boutique Inn’s eight guest rooms as well as participating in the weekly deep cleaning of the house.

However, there is room for flexibility and creativity in position tasks; and many longer term projects that could be participated in. For example: come springtime the Inn will be needing help in our gardens – so students interested in and/or talented in gardening and sustainability would be the perfect fit.

All that is required for the position is for the student(s) to be committed, detail-oriented and a good team member. We would like to hire a housekeeper for 8-10 hours a week, during the day Sundays and after school on Mondays.

Please apply via phone call at 603-904-4022 … and ask to speak with Kelley, or to set up an interview, email with times of availability: BWIteam@zoho.com

Thank you!
