Walpole Police Department — August 2026 Activity Summary 

During August, the Walpole Police Department responded to a broad range of calls for service, including criminal complaints, motor vehicle enforcement, accidents, medical emergencies, suspicious activity, citizen assists, alarms, animal complaints, and follow-up investigations. The month also included several incidents resulting in arrests and reports being taken. The activity log covers August 1 through August 31, 2026. 

Significant Police Activity 

Among the more notable calls during the month were: 

  • Criminal threatening complaints on August 22 and August 25. The August 22 incident was investigated and a report taken; the August 25 complaint was referred for officer follow-up. 
  • Assault on August 15, investigated with a report taken. 
  • Domestic disturbance on August 25, investigated with a report taken. 
  • Theft complaints on August 10, August 24, August 25, and August 29. 
  • Forgery/fraudulent practices complaints on August 6 and August 25. 
  • Shoplifting on August 16, investigated with a report taken. 
  • Hit-and-run motor vehicle accident on August 19, investigated with a report taken. 
  • Criminal trespassing reported on August 1; officers were unable to locate the individual. 
  • Several suspicious person/vehicle/incident calls occurred during the month, with dispositions ranging from officer follow-up to reports being taken. 
  • Police also responded to a shots fired/gunshots complaint on August 17; services were rendered. 
  • A suicide threat/suicide attempt call on August 27 was investigated and a report taken.

Arrests and Enforcement 

Several incidents resulted in arrests during August. These included motor vehicle-related activity and two specifically identified DWI/DUI (Impaired Driver) incidents, one on August 14 and another on August 18, both resulting in arrests. 

Additional arrests were recorded in connection with an assist motorist call and several motor vehicle stops. 

Motor Vehicle Activity 

Traffic enforcement represented a substantial portion of police activity during August. Motor vehicle stops occurred throughout the month, with most resulting in citations or warnings.

Police also responded to several motor vehicle accidents during the month. At least one resulted in transportation to the hospital, and another involved a vehicle being towed. 

Medical and Public Assistance 

The department handled numerous ambulance and medical calls throughout August. Several resulted in transportation to the hospital, while others involved police providing information, assistance, or coordinating with emergency medical services. 

Officers also handled a significant number of assist citizen, assist motorist, assist other agency, lockout, found/lost property, and follow-up calls. 

Other Activity 

Other calls included burglar and fire alarms, animal complaints, juvenile offenses, welfare checks, road hazards, wires down, noise disturbances, building checks, VIN verifications, paper service, warrant service, parking complaints, and directed patrols. 

Overall Summary 

August was an active month for the Walpole Police Department, with traffic enforcement making up a significant portion of the activity. In addition to routine patrol and motor vehicle enforcement, officers responded to criminal complaints involving assault, theft, criminal threatening, fraud, domestic disturbance, and shoplifting. The department also handled numerous medical emergencies, citizen assistance calls, suspicious activity reports, accidents, alarms, and follow-up investigations. 

The logs show a combination of proactive enforcement and response to community calls for service, with many incidents resolved through services rendered, investigation/report, referral to another agency, or officer follow-up.
