January 2026 Clarion Now Online

I am waiting to hear from the printer to pick up the hardcopies to get in the mail to all residents in Walpole, North Walpole, and Drewsville. With the printer’s holiday schedule, as I noted in the December issue your January issue, with 20 pages, may not arrive until the 2nd or 3rd. But if you click this link, or on the front cover below you can read January on-line now.

The lead article is the delay in mailing tax bills. Bills were mailed on December 29. As noted in the CLARION (last year and on page 17 in this issue) — Internal Revenue Code Section 164(a) states in part: “…a) General rule. — Except as otherwise provided in this section, the following taxes shall be allowed as a deduction for the taxable year within which paid or accrued: (1) State and local, and foreign, real property taxes. Thus if you itemize deductions you can take the deduction for the final tax bill of 2025 on your 2025 tax return.

Stay safe and well – HAPPY NEW YEAR – RAY BOAS, Publisher
