Labor Day Weekend Events at Distant Hill Gardens

Making A Point

THE GEOLOGY OF WATER
Saturday, September 5
10 am to noon

David Howell, USGS research geologist emeritus and author of over 150 scientific articles and books on topics ranging from mountain building to the role of geology in viticulture, will deliver an in-depth educational talk about how geology controls our water, both locally and globally.

David will review the geologic origins of water, its global distribution, and the various properties of this important resource. He will also discuss how water plays a major role in plate tectonics: from the catalyst for volcanism; as a principle player in mountain building; and as the main agent in controlling the distribution of oil and gas resources.

This will be David’s third annual geology talk at Distant Hill Gardens, and his past talks were the most well attended of any events at Distant Hill. David has a way of making the science of geology easy to understand and incredibly interesting, even to the novice.

A one of a kind talk not to be missed!

NOTE: No registration is required for this talk, but you might want to come early for a good seat.

Suggested donation for this event: $5.00
