Withdrawal Informtaiin Meetings

Clarion Deadline – 2/21/20

It is time – one week to go for the deadline for the next issue of THE WALPOLE CLARION – March 2020. I have already many submissions. Last evening I spent over two and a half hours at public hearings, and will be writing and have asked for articles leading into Town Meeting time on the Proposed Charlestown Withdrawal (NO), Broadband (YES), Warrant Articles (YES), Plastic Bag Ban (YES – may be enacted once the State passes regulations). I max out at twenty-four pages for postal regulations, so get your submissions (and advertisements) in to be included. This will be a well-read issue. Thank you, yours, RAY

St John’s Church Annual Holiday Fair – 11/23/19

St. John’s Episcopal Church in Walpole will host its Holiday Fair on Saturday, November 23rd 2019 from 9 AM to 2 PM in the Parish Hall on Elm Street.
This year’s fair will include St John’s famous Cookie Walk, featuring dozens of varieties of home-baked cookies – including our enormously popular extravagantly decorated cutout sugar cookies. The Nature table will offer swags, wreaths, and Advent wreaths. The Harvest Home table will offer pies, tarts, and rolls for your Thanksgiving feast and an assortment of novelty holiday treats, plus delicious jams and pickles made from produce harvested from local gardens. Find unique treasures (Vintage and New) at the Holiday Crafts and Decor table. This will be the second year for our very popular raffle table featuring a variety of gift baskets donated by parishioners and area merchants. There will be free coffee, tea, or cider with the purchase of an item from our baked goodies.
St John’s is located at the corner of Westminster and Elm Streets, opposite Town Hall. Come out and join in the festivities on November 23rd!
And while you’re out and about, check for signs and be sure to visit all the other organizations (Walpole Historical Society, Congregational Church ) that are hosting events in town on that day!

Clarion Deadline – 4/20/18

MAY CLARION – DEADLINE FRIDAY 20 APRIL
by Ray Boas
This is your one-week warning that the closing date is on the horizon — Friday, April 20. The May CLARION will go to the printer on Monday the 23rd, and be posted on-line at that time.

This will be a “hot issue” and focus on the current “hot topic”  —  the request for a special zoning exception to allow a gas station/convenience store on Route 12 at the intersection with South Street. “Hot Issue” because this is not an allowed use on Rural/Agricultural Land, particularly when other sites (as stipulated in Walpole’s Zoning Ordnance) are available. In addition there are other factors that make the siting here inappropriate, and inconsistent with Walpole’s Master Plan.

I am filling May’s pages now with site plans, visuals, and working on many articles so all readers are aware of the issues at hand. The sooner you get your submissions in, the sooner I can place them.

Thank you, yours, RAY – Publisher
