Reminder: CROP Walk Tomorrow – 10/11/25

ANNUAL WALPOLE CROP HUNGER WALK

October 11, 2025

For over 20 years, churches and community groups in Walpole have joined together to raise funds that are used by Church World Service (CWS) to alleviate hunger, both locally and globally. The funds are also used to assist in disaster situations, sustainable agriculture, and clean water practices around the world.  The Fall Mountain Food Shelf, our local recipient, will receive 25% of what we receive in donations, In the past, that has been about $3,000.

So please mark your calendar and  join us on Walk Day, Saturday, October 11th at 9:15.  We will meet at the First Congregational Church on the Common, where you can check in or register if you have not already done so online. The Walk is a three mile stroll around the village.  To participate in the walk, to register, to donate, or to find out more about the CROP Walk, go www.crophungerwalk.org/walpolenh. If you aren’t able to participate in the walk, but would like to donate, please consider donating, using the secure link.

The need is extremely great this year due to federal funding cuts. That reduction is being felt both globally and locally.  The Fall Mountain Food Shelf will receive significantly less food and financial support from USDA and the NH Food Bank.  Your support would be so appreciated.  Thank you!

Note:  CWS has received a 100% rating from Charity Navigator.  Questions? Please call Jana Sellarole at 603-313-4076.

Cub Scout Mum Sale

From Debbie Pawelczyk:

The Walpole Cub Scout Pack 299 will soon start taking orders for their Mum Fall Fundraiser. All proceeds from this fundraiser pay for scout activities and registrations.

This year the sale is starting August 4, and going thru September 8, unless we sell out before then. This is a very popular fundraiser and we have a limited number of mums available. Please place your order early to guarantee you can get what you want. We sold out last year.

Mums are between 15 to 18 inches across, and planted in 9.5 inch pots. Colors available are red, white, yellow, and orange-bronze. We are selling them for $20 each. The mums come from a grower in Bowdoin, Maine.

Mums will be available for pick-up on Sunday, September 21, on the Walpole Town Common between 9:00 and 10:00 am. You can place an order by finding a Cub Scout from Pack 299, or you can call Debbie Pawelczyk 603-445-5475.

Fall Mountain Nordic Ski Teams Fundraiser – 6/28/25

From Holly Gowdy:

Fall Mountain Ski Teams offer Cow Poop Bingo at Walpole Old Home Days

The Fall Mountain Nordic Ski Teams are holding a fundraiser during Walpole Old Home Days. They will be having a COW on the Common Saturday June 28th. When she POOPS one lucky winner could receive $1,000.00.

Ski Team members have about 300 bingo raffle tickets for sale, they have started selling them and will continue to sell them right through Saturday, June 28th during the Old Home Day Parade.

The plan is to set up a “Bingo Card” on the grass at the South end of the Walpole Common. The cow will be in a small pen to take in the parade and then she will be released out onto the game board, as she wanders around grazing she will eventually have to poop, and wherever the poop lands will mark the square and we will have a WINNER.

Tickets will be available for sale on some Saturdays during June! At the Walpole Post Office on June 7th and/or at the Walpole Recycling Center, on Saturday June 14th . . . If we still have tickets to sell we will be at the Block Party and/or the Street Dance . . . don’t delay, as we have sold out before the parade the last couple of times we have done this.

The Fall Mountain Ski Teams are always grateful for the support from our community, THANK YOU!

Golf Out Cancer 2024

From Kerry Pickering:

A huge thank you to Walpole and the surrounding communities for their donations to our 2024 Golf Out Cancer Event. Today two of our committee members, Dean and Christine Prentiss, were able to present a check to Dana Farber Cancer Institute for $14,500! We were also able to donate $2,000 to DHC-Keene for gas cards for cancer patients. Thank you to all that made this possible.
