Each issue of THE WALPOLE CLARION brings you stories of past events, and news of future events. But, in all likelihood, for the May issue, there will be no stories of past events from April to report on, nor news of upcoming events in May. Life as we have known it has changed.

But here is an invitation to you. I see the pages of the CLARION as documenting what has happened within the Walpole community. My hope is that years from now people may pick up an old copy and reflect on what happened. My invitation? Your contribution to the May issue documenting what life has been like for you during the Stay at Homeorder during the COVID-19 crisis. I am sure that our student reporters will have something to share, but wouldn’t it be nice to hear from a cross-section of residents and how they have dealt with isolation, shopping for necessities, loss of income, and business shutdowns.

I see writing as a catharsis – it provides some relief from stress. Committing words and thoughts to paper (or to a word processing program) documents life, and helps focus your thoughts. So think about it. Write something down, even if only a journal for your own memory. Start writing down your memories now. And, if you wish, submit your 300-350 words by April 20 for possible inclusion in the May CLARION to be shared with our special community.
