Police Building Committee Minutes

Town Hall, Walpole, NH

Chair Steven Dalessio called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm in the Walpole Selectboard Office.

Present were Jay Punt, Cheri Watson, Trevor MacLachlan, Chief Justin Sanctuary, Peggy Pschirrer. Andrew Dey joined the meeting later.

The Committee members who had attended the Special Town Meeting on August 17, 2026, reviewed the meeting procedures and discussion. They unanimously agreed the Moderator had not been impartial as he is expected to be. The Architect who was present was treated rudely.  No one who spoke was identified.  It was a blow to lose the warrant article by one vote.  In the days following the meeting, several local residents, who were absent the meeting called Chief Sanctuary and committee members to apologize for missing the meeting which they assumed would approve the warrant.

Police Statistics have been published; they represent the dispatch record of activities.  They will continue to be published on the Walpolean and the Clarion.

Steve Dalessio then reviewed the drawings of the proposed police station. One major change to be made is to eliminate the granite curbing for a less expensive curbing of concrete.  The storm water curbing will be redesigned.

All bathrooms must be handicapped accessible according to building codes.

Estimated costs will remain the same for the proposed building.  The Committee spent the rest of the meeting reviewing every facet of the building: the size of the room, the insulation of the building, the roof lines, whether the roof could be solar ready, the building‘s ventilation and the building’s siding.

The Committee recommends we continue to fundraise for the building’s furniture and fixtures. The Committee will organize “Coffee with a Cop” events over the next few months for open discussions with individual officers.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:30 pm.

The next Committee meeting will be held on October 26, 2026 at Town Hall at 6:30 pm.
