DEALING WITH THE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) DISEASE FACT SHEET– UPDATE #2
THIS IS A DEADLY CONTAGIOUS DISEASE
BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM
MARCH 23, 2020

THIS IS A NEW (NOVEL) VIRUS. NO HUMAN HAS ANY IMMUNITY TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS. IT INFECTS YOU BY ENTERING THROUGH YOUR MOUTH, YOUR EYES OR YOUR NOSE BY BRINGING IN THE VIRUS PARTICLES SUSPENDED IN EXTREMELY TINY WATER DROPLETS OR BY PHYSICAL CONTACT FROM YOUR HANDS. IT SEEMS LIKE THE AIRBORNE ROUTE IS THE MORE COMMON PATH OF INFECTION. NEW REPORTS SUGGEST THAT A LOSS OF TASTE OR SMELL MAY BE AN EARLY SYMPPTOM THAT YOU HAVE THE COVID-19 VIRUS. STAY HOME AND SELF ISOLATE.

AN INFECTED PERSON CAN APPEAR HEALTHY FOR FIVE TO AS MANY AS TWELVE DAYS BEFORE EXHIBITING THE SYMPTOMS OF FEVER, COUGH AND FATIGUE WHICH MEANS YOU CAN INFECT OTHERS WITHOUT KNOWING IT. IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU MAY HAVE THE VIRUS STAY HOME. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE TESTED JUST SO YOU KNOW. WE DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TEST KITS. IF YOU HAVE NO MEDICAL PROVIDER IN NEW HAMPSHIRE CALL 603-354-5400 AND IN VERMONT CALL 802-863-7240.

OLDER PEOPLE ARE AT HIGHER RISK AS ARE MEN AND PEOPLE WITH PRE-EXISTING HEALTH CONDITIONS.

THERE IS NO VACCINE OR DRUG SPECIFICALLY FOR COVID-19. THE LONGER YOU ARE WITH AN INFECTED PERSON THE HIGHER THE CHANCE YOU WILL BECOME INFECTED.

OUR MEDICAL COMMUNITY NEEDS YOUR HELP AND COOPERATION. THEY ARE GOING TO BE COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED IF WE DON’T STAY HOME AND TRY TO STAY HEALTHY WHILE DOING OUR SMALL PART FOR THE GREATER GOOD. BE A COMPLIANT CITIZEN NOT A DEFIANT ONE.
